Happy new month, everyone!
With the bone-chilling temperatures we’ve been experiencing in Nairobi of late, I can’t help but reminisce about the much needed vacay I took to sunny Watamu, for my birthday! I had never been to Watamu before, so you can’t even begin to imagine just how much I was yearning for my eyes to gaze upon new horizons that I had heard such amazing things about.
Just steps from the beautiful sandy beaches of Watamu, Turtle Bay Kenya takes magnificent beachfront living to great, new heights. Boasting a sensory overload of great food, endless opportunity to take in the scenery and award winning service, this all inclusive hotel was nothing short of perfect for my birthday getaway.
The hotel’s comfortable guest rooms feature handcrafted wooden beds, individually controlled air conditioning, ceiling fans and private patios that embrace unique views, but what really stood out for me was the array of fun activities offered to guests; An evening dhow cruise being among the most exciting!
This was a first time experience for me and I must say, there’s nothing quite like gliding through the Mida Creek on a traditional dhow, sipping on delicious sun-downer cocktails, snacking on treats that refresh the palate, all while soaking up the breathtaking surroundings. (And slaying, of course! 😛 )
Gathoni asked us to get in formation 😀
This gorgeous, white number oozes all sorts of Greecian goddess vibes and I simply cannot get over how elegantly it drapes and dances with the wind! With such a gem in my corner, staying stylish from a suitcase proved to be heaps of fun! 😀
“Karibu Kenya, nchi ya jua…” (Welcome to Kenya, a country of the sun), they sang 🙂
The plan was to throw caution to the wind and take a dip into the ocean, but then the chills crept in, so I struck a pose instead 😛
