As women with demanding jobs and a busy social life, it’s important to find seamless ways to transition our work outfits to outfits that look just as chic for an evening out. For instance, say you work an 8 to 5 job and have dinner, or perhaps even happy hour plans after work. You definitely want to attend your evening engagement looking a little less corporate without the hustle of a complete outfit change, especially if you have a far commute (or live in a city like Nairobi, where traffic stays a hot mess!) and there isn’t enough time to go back home and slip into something a little more after hours appropriate.
Throughout this week I will be sharing with you a few outfit hacks that will ensure you ooze boss-lady glamour at work and steal the show after hours. You can thank me later 🙂
For this corporate look I went with a structured dress in the yummiest shade of blue as the base, threw over and cinched in a leo-print cardigan, accessorized with a simple choker, donned my comfiest court heels and grabbed my tote bag on the way out.
After hours, I simply ditched the cardigan, engaged in some print-cercise as far as the shoes were concerned, added a little drama to my lips and then I let the statement neck wear work the rest of the magic 🙂
Carrying a huge tote bag out for an evening event is a huge (pun intended) no-no! Well, at least for me, so I downsized with an envelope clutch that’s just big enough to fit all my evening essentials.
If the cool evening breeze is no friend of yours, you might want to consider a form of layering.
