Happy February, everyone!

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, which can only mean it’s time to spread the love! Let’s face it, this “love affair” can get a little pricey, which is where it gets overrated for me. I don’t believe Valentine’s should be about how much money you splurge on your special someone, but more about sweet and thoughtful gestures that will get him or her swooning fast 😉  This love month, I have partnered with Rinsun Sunflower Oil, to show you guys that it’s really about the little things, like a tasty and romantic home-cooked meal. Besides, they say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach and we all know that a hungry girl is a hangry one! 😀

So, from today through to Friday, brace yourself for major hunger pangs because I’ll be sharing simple recipes that are packed with flavor, guaranteed to get him/her hooked! None of these recipes require any fancy kitchen accessories and all the ingredients are super affordable and easily available locally too.

Yes, people! Your Valentine’s day date night is about to get easier and a lot less expensive, and it could be the perfect opportunity for you to show off your skills in the kitchen 😉

Kick starting my week of haute cuisines, is a 25 minute Chicken Alfredo dish!

Simple Recipes For Valentine's Day

Simple Recipes For Valentine’s Day : Chicken Alfredo.

This one-pot meal is perfect for the guy or girl who wants to make a bomb impression, without having to fuss or spend hours in the kitchen.  Don’t let the fancy name intimidate you, Chicken Alfredo is pretty simple to make and every bite of this classic pasta is bursting with fresh flavours! Seriously guys, it tasted so good, I literally wanted to pat myself on the back 😀

Simple Recipes For Valentine's Day

 ~ Rinsun Sunflower Oil.

~ 3 pieces of boneless and skinless chicken breast.

~ Fettuccine pasta.

~ 3 cloves of garlic.

~ Salt.

~ Freshly ground black pepper.

~ 1 cup whole milk.

~ 150 ml double cream.

~ Freshly grated parmesan cheese.

~ Ground parsley.

~Dhania/coriander for garnish.

~ Cut the chicken breasts into sizeable strips and soak them in salt water and crushed garlic overnight. My bestie introduced me to brining (soaking meat n salt water) and believe me, it makes all the difference in ensuring the meat is soft, moist and flavourful!

~ Using a kitchen towel, pat dry the chicken and in a non-stick skillet, heat some Rinsun Sunflower Oil on medium heat. Add the chicken strips, season with black pepper and cook until they are golden and cooked through. This should be approximately 10 minutes. Let this rest on a plate.

~ Add the milk into the skillet, some salt and pepper, then allow to simmer. Add the fettuccine pasta and let it cook for about 7 minutes. Keep stirring from time to time.

~ Stir in the double cream, chicken strips, ground parsley and grated Parmesan cheese, then simmer until the sauce is thick to your liking.

~ Sprinkle some coriander/dhania for garnish and serve hot!

Set The Mood:

~ Light up some candles to set a romantic mood for Valentine’s day.

~ Chill the drinks. (Chicken Alfredo pairs beautifully with chardonnay, which is best served chilled.)

~ Use your best dishes to serve up your delicious dinner.

~ Disconnect from the rest of the world by making it a phone-free zone.

~ Dress up just as you would if you were going out for dinner.
