Can you guess who’s officially joined the (sexy) geeks club?! 😀
I finally did something about my poor eyesight and I’m super excited to be able to share a few tips for buying glasses that actually suit your face and personality. I’ve struggled with being short sighted since I was about 6 years old and I remember my mum buying me the ugliest pair of spects, EVER! My classmates and siblings made fun of me, so I broke them and that was it. Lol! Fast forward to a few days ago, when I visited Urban Tortoise at Rosslyn Riviera Mall, to finally do what I should have done years ago. I was so nervous before my consultation, because a part of me didn’t want to know how bad my sight had gotten over the years. Arifa, owner and optician at Urban Tortoise, was so, so gracious and professional and immediately made me feel comfortable.
Fast forward to the fun part: if any one of you is looking to join this sexy club, here are my tips for buying glasses that are perfect for you!
1. Know your face shape.
Getting the perfect pair of glasses all begins with knowing your face shape. For instance, I have a really slim, oval face, which in many cases makes my options limited when it comes to finding glasses that suit me. Luckily, Urban Tortoise is teeming with variety, so I had plenty to choose from. I’d also recommend going for your consultation in your natural hair. Braids and other extensions would exaggerate how good you’d actually look in the glasses, without the hair extensions :-/
2. Frame size.
Of all the tips for buying glasses, this has got to be the one that was most crucial for me, given the shape of my face. When I tell you I tried on over 20 pairs of spects, I mean it! Lol! I didn’t want something that would be too overwhelming, but at the same time, I knew I wanted something chic and stylish. I’ll be unveiling the pair I got on Wednesday, so look out for that 😉
3. Frame colour.
If you are buying your first pair, I would suggest going with a neutral shade that would pair seamlessly with any outfit, hair colour, etc. If you’re looking to get an additional pair, then bold and quirky colours may be right down your alley.
The last of my tips for buying glasses is finding a pair that compliments your personality. What you wear should be an expression of who you are and spects are no exception.
PS: Are any of you members of the geek squad? You can now get a 10% discount on spects and sunglasses using “Cateye” at Urban Tortoise until the 31st of December! You’re welcome 😉
What are some of your tips for buying glasses? Can you guess which ones I got? Drop me a comment and let me know!
Thank you all for stopping by, Cateyes!
