HIKING :: SLEEPING WARRIOR
Escaping the daily grind can only mean that it’s time to get your adrenaline pumping, and what better way than to take a hike?
The Sleeping Warrior has been said to be one of the most challenging hills to conquer and has even earned the status of being great practice for those planning to climb Mt. Kenya. That being said, of course we were excited to get to the top, take some killer pictures and come back home to brag of our conquest!
Our dream was killed quarter way through the hike, when some herdsmen (God bless them!) yelled to us to alert us that a pride of FIVE lions had been seen earlier that morning, going up the hill and were suspected to be coolin’ at the top!
Needless to say, a quick descend was now the new agenda, especially because we didn’t have any armed KWS security with us.
Although we were bummed out, this experience was exciting in its own way and I definitely plan to be back; to finish what I started!
The view as we climbed was spectacular!
Memo from the lions 😀
COOLIN’ :: HOT WATER SPRINGS
After such an eventful hike, a dip in Lake Elementaita natural hot springs was the most logical move to relax and soothe our sore muscles.
The clouds got heavy…
… but the water was so warm and relaxing!
With an abundance of beautiful species of birds and the endless opportunity to spot them, Sirville Lake Elementaita Lodge has proven to be a bird watcher’s paradise!
Peter, from Sirville Lodge, who is also a KPSGA silver-certified tour guide, took us through a fun and informative bird tour along the shores of Lake Elementaita. I must say, it was quite thrilling to catch sight of beautiful and rare species of birds, emerging from their habitat into the beautiful surroundings.
Panoramic views, gorgeous sunset, great company, some adult juice and a bonfire. What more could one demand from a perfect evening?
FIRST TIME :: QUAD BIKING!
This was definitely the most fun I’ve ever had, on four wheels!
Something about this little fun machine has me itching to head up muddy banks, through water splashes and along dirt-filled trails. Talk about adrenaline!
What are some of the most exciting places you’ve visited lately?
Thank you so much for stopping by!
